A blog looking at the role of alternative energy and "going green" at AU and why some new construction projects are taking the idea more serious than others.

Ryan Pickett Interview!
So for my second published interview on my blog, I decided to podcast a short chat with Ryan Pickett, an SIS student who has traveled to Burma and seems to know a lot about going green and such.
To add to this project, I decided to conduct a very informal poll on how much 20 SIS students and 20 SOC students know about their respective construction projects and their green levels.
SIS! Out of the 20 SIS students polled, all of them knew about the construction project, considering AU has broken ground with it. All of them also knew that it was going to be a completely green building, though many joked, "AU is painting SIS bright green!?!" Only half of them, though, knew many other details about the project, like the solar-paneled roof or the rain water collection. None of the 20 students knew when the project would be completed, though many of them hope within the next year so they can take full advantage of the new, upgraded facility.
SOC! Out of the 20 SOC students polled, 18 of them knew where the new SOC building is going to be built, but only 10 knew that the Media Production Center currently has a green roof. Out of the seven film students polled, only three had ever heard of green film techniques and one had said he had used green film techniques in the past. All of them figured that the new SOC would not be completed by the time they graduate, something that disappointed all of them as many of them said, "I just want my school to have it's own building!"
Hey there! My name is Lauren and I am currently living on the Texas/Mexico border with my husband, our two dogs Finn and Roman and our fabulously grumpy hedgehog named Brutus. I love music, fashion, reading, and crafting and first began knitting just over one year ago.
